Efficiency

New and innovative processing and reactor design

As the requirement to use energy and raw materials more efficiently increases, and as chemical products become increasingly diverse and complex, new, safe, resource- and energy-efficient synthetic routes and novel, innovative process principles and designs become necessary.

Microwave technology has been shown to significantly improve the performance of chemical reactions at the laboratory scale. Excellent energy efficiency, short reaction times, stable and precisely controlled reaction conditions and high-quality products with excellent yields have been observed.

However, although microwave technology has been shown to significantly improve performance of chemical reactions, the technology has until today mostly been deployed in chemical reactions at the laboratory scale and has not yet been established in the chemical manufacturing industry.

Microwave assisted chemical reactions in continuous flow have opened a way to transform the microwave technology to commercial scale, combining the advantages in performance with high throughput.
