Nano Materials with narrow core size distribution (Quantum Dots)
In literature a strong influence of MW fields on the crystallization of mixed crystals is described. In comparison to classical methods a very narrow distributed systems with almost equal size distribution are obtained. Thus, the crystallization metal or transition metal oxides, sulfides, etc. can be influenced by microwave fields providing a significant reduction of particle size distribution and a more uniform distribution.
Tunable microwave fields should show a significant impact on the crystallization. Microwaves are heating three-dimensionally and there aren’t large temperature gradients between “inside and outside”.
In conventional heating large temperature gradients should be a significant issue. With microwave technology, the power input can be controlled in an extremely accurate way, that temperature can be controlled in the range of +/- 1 Kelvin or even less.
